Bakayoko set for Chelsea medical as he closes on £35m move

The France international midfielder is on the verge of completing a switch to Stamford Bridge, with financial terms having now been agreed
Tiemoue Bakayoko is to undergo a medical in London as he finalises a £35.2 million move to Chelsea, Goal can confirm.
The Monaco midfielder could therefore be a Chelsea player by the end of the week, with Antonio Conte having identified the 22-year-old as his main summer target in the midfield area.
Talks between Chelsea, Monaco and Bakayoko have moved slowly but all parties have finally come to an agreement for the Frenchman, who reached the semi-finals of the Champions League and won Ligue 1 last season, to move to Stamford Bridge.
Bakayoko has been enjoying a post-season holiday in New York and his presence in London is now all that is needed to complete the final part of the transfer.

Chelsea's move for Bakayoko calls Nemanja Matic's future into question, however, with Manchester United appearing to be the main club interested.

HISTORY OF OJI RIVER

Oji River is a Local Government Area of Enugu StateNigeria to the south bordering Anambra State and Abia State. Its headquarters are in the town of Oji River. The towns within Oji River L G A are:- InyiAchiAwlawAkpugoeze and Ugwuoba . Enugu and Ebonyi States are sometimes referred to as the ' Wawa States'
It has an area of 403 km² and a population of 126,587 at the 2006 census.
The postal code of the area is 401.[1]
The Oji River thermal power station in Oji River in Enugu state, Nigeria, is one of the small satellite power stations built in the South-East of Nigeria before Independence of 1960 and the commissioning of the large National Hydroelectricity power station in Kainji Dam/Jebba Dam.
It was built to produce 10MW Capacity of Electricity. With the aid of the river alongside the site and coal transported from Enugu Coal site on overhead cable buckets 50 km away. After the Nigeria - Biafra civil war (in which over 1 million people died, mainly children of the Igbo tribe who were killed by the Nigeria government policy with the help of the British government), the thermal power station was upgraded to 30MW, supplying electricity the immediate area and also some parts of Udi, Achi area.
28 January 1956: Queen Elizabeth II, on a three-week visit to Nigeria, during which she visited the leper settlement and newly built power station, at Oji river in East Nigeria. The plant reportedly last generated power in 2004. The Nigeria government has debated plans for recommissioning the plant, considering that its water level has drastically gone down such that it cannot power its turbines to generate electricity, as well as the closed coal mines at Enugu city.
Oji River town has one of the largest and oldest running leprosy rehabilitation settlements in the south-east, bordering Anambra state. It had been originally set up by English missionary churches in the 1930s in Nigeria. In 1944, the then Governor of Nigeria Sir Arthur Richards visited the Uzuakoli Leper Settlement officially. Following this visit, the Nigerian government took active interest in missionary activities to eradicate leprosy in Nigeria by taking over the Oji River Leprosy Settlement from the Church Missionary Society (CMS now Anglican). It also built a Leprosy Control Centre at Oji River.
Most people from Oji River are Christians with majority either practising Catholics or Anglicans while the rest practise local believes.
Oji River town hosts one of only four sites nationally, for the Recruitment and training at police cadets in a Police College in Oji River, which also offered training to other security personnel, such as armed immigration officers. The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) is designated by Section 194 of the 1979 constitution as the national police of Nigeria with exclusive jurisdiction throughout the country.

History of Enugu State

Enugu, usually referred to as Enugu State to distinguish it from the city of Enugu, is a state in southeastern Nigeria. Its capital is Enugu, from which the state – created in 1991 from part of the old Anambra State – derives its name. The principal cities in the state are Enugu,Ngwo, Agbani, Awgu. Enugu State is one of the states in the eastern part of Nigeria. The state shares borders with Abia State and Imo State to the south, Ebonyi State to the east, Benue State to the northeast, Kogi State to the northwest and Anambra State to the west. Enugu, the capital city of Enugu State, is approximately 2½ driving hours away from Port Harcourt, where coal shipments exited Nigeria. Enugu is also located within an hour's drive from Onitsha, one of the biggest commercial cities in Africa and two hours' drive from Aba, another very large commercial city, both of which are trading centres in Nigeria. The average temperature in this city is cooler to mild (60 degrees Fahrenheit) in its cooler months and gets warmer to hot in its warmer months (upper 80 degrees Fahrenheit) and very good for outdoor activities with family and friends or just for personal leisure. Enugu has good soil-land and climatic conditions all year round, sitting at about 223 m above sea level, and the soil is well drained during its rainy seasons. The mean temperature in Enugu State in the hottest month of February is about 87.16 F, while the lowest temperatures occur in the month of November, reaching 60.54 F. The lowest rainfall of about 0.16 cc is normal in February, while the highest is about 35.7 cc in July.

History
The name of the state derives from its capital city, Enugu. The word "Enugu" (from Enu Ugwu) means "the top of the hill". The first European settlers arrived in the area in 1909, led by a British mining engineer named Albert Kitson. In his quest for silver, he discovered coal in the Udi Ridge. The Colonial Governor of Nigeria Frederick Lugard took a keen interest in the discovery, and by 1914 the first shipment of coal was made to Britain. As mining activities increased in the area, a permanent cosmopolitan settlement emerged, supported by a railway system. Enugu acquired township status in 1917 and became strategic to British interests. Foreign businesses began to move into Enugu, the most notable of which were John Holt, Kingsway Stores, the British Bank of West Africa and the United Africa Company. From Enugu the British administration was able to spread its influence over the Southern Province of Nigeria. The colonial past of Enugu is today evidenced by the Georgian building types and meandering narrow roads within the residential area originally reserved for the whites, an area which is today called the Government Reserved Area (GRA). From being the capital of the Southern Provinces, Enugu became the capital of the Eastern Region (now divided into nine States), the capital of now defunct Federal Republic of Biafra, thereafter, the capital of East Central State, Anambra State, (old) Enugu State, and now the capital of the present Enugu State through a process of state creation and diffusion of administrative authority.

Politics
The State Government and the Local Government are the two levels of government in Enugu State and in all other states of Nigeria. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi is the current executive governor of Enugu State. He was elected by the people in April 2015 and was sworn in on 29 May 2015. Sullivan Chime is the immediate governor succeeding Chimaroke Nnamani. He was elected by the people of Enugu State in April 2007[4] and was sworn into office on 29 May 2007.[5] The governor is above a group of commissioners who he has placed as heads of ministries that oversee various portfolios such as Health and Housing; both the governor and the commissioners form the Executive Council of Enugu State. Government House, Enugu is where the government of the state is based.

Local Government Areas
Enugu State consists of 17 Local Government Areas. They are: • Aninri • Awgu • Enugu East • Enugu North • Enugu South • Ezeagu • Igbo Etiti • Igbo Eze North • Igbo Eze South • Isi Uzo • Nkanu East • Nkanu West • Nsukka • Oji River • Udenu • Udi • Uzo-Uwani

Economy
Economically, the state is predominantly rural and agrarian, with a substantial proportion of its working population engaged in farming, although trading (18.8%) and services (12.9%) are also important. In the urban areas trading is the dominant occupation, followed by services. A small proportion of the population is also engaged in manufacturing activities, with the most pronounced among them located in Enugu, Oji, Ohebedim and Nsukka. The state boasts of a number of markets especially at each of the divisional headquarters, prominent of which is the Ogbete Main market in the State capital, Enugu. There is also one of the largest grains market East of the Niger, the Orie Orba Market which plays host to most farmers from the North Central States of Benue, Kogi, Nassarawa and Plateau who use the market to dispose their produce for consumers in South-East and South-Southern Nigeria . Every four days, grains and other farm produce are found in large quantities and at highly competitive prices.

Energy
Electricity supply is relatively stable in Enugu and its Environs. The Oji River Power Station (which used to supply electricity to all of Eastern Nigeria) is located in Enugu State. With the deregulation of electricity generation in Nigeria, and the privatisation of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), it is hoped the State Government would assist private investors to negotiate the take over and reactivation of the Oji Power Station. This is more so with the proximity of the Enugu coal mines to the power station, a driving distance of about 20 minutes. There are also traces of crude oil in Ugwuoba, in the same Oji-River Local Government area of the state. The state will also negotiate with investors interested in investing in the coal mining in Enugu. The coal industry used to be one of the biggest employer of labour in the state and the state is looking to attract investors in the industry.

Education
Every community in Enugu State has at least one Primary/Elementary school and one Secondary school, funded and run by State Government. There are also large numbers of private nursery, primary and secondary schools in Enugu State. Nigeria's first indigenous university, (University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN)), is located in Enugu State. The state also hosts the Enugu State University of Science & Technology (ESUT), Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Federal Cooperative College, Oji River (FCCO); Enugu State College of Education Technical, Enugu; Caritas University, Amorji-Nike, Renaissance University, Ugbawka; Command Day Secondary School Enugu, Federal Government College Enugu, Federal School of Dental Technology & Therapy, College of Immaculate Conception, Enugu, Queen's School Enugu a Prominent high school for girls in the Eastern region; St. Theresa's College, Nsukka; Special Science Boys' Secondary School Agbani, Nkanu West l.g.a; [St. Patrick's Secondary School], Emene, Bigard Memorial Seminary, Enugu; Awgu County College, Nenwe; Community Secondary School, Ugbo-Okpala, Ugbo; Corpus Christi College, Achi, Royal Crown Academy, Nsukka, Enugu State, Enugu]; Our Saviour Institute of Science and Technology, Enugu; and the Federal College of Education, Eha-Amufu, Seat of Wisdom Secondary School Trans Ekulu Enugu,Osisatech boys secondary school. There are also a host of private computer schools and training centres concentrated in Enugu and Nsukka. There are also notable private Tertiary Institutions in Enugu such as Caritas University, a Catholic university founded by a Catholic Priest: Father Edeh, and Renaissance University.

Medicine
The University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) is located in Enugu State, as is the Enugu State University Teaching Hospital and College of Medicine. In addition to numerous private hospitals and clinics in the state, there are seven District Hospitals at Enugu –Urban, Udi, Agbani, Awgu, Ikem, Enugu-Ezike, and Nsukka – and at least one health centre or cottage hospital in every one of the 17 Local Government Areas and 39 Development Centres in the state. The University of Nigeria Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH) is also located in Enugu.

Demographics
Enugu State had a population of 3,267,837 people at the census held in 2006 (estimated at over 3.8 million in 2012). It is home of the Igbo of southeastern and few Idoma/Igala people in Ette (Igbo-Eze North) of Enugu State, Nigeria.

Billionaire kidnapper: How Evans and his gang killed my father – Ex-Super Eagles’ player

Former Super-Eagles’ defender, Chikelue Iloenyosi, has given a detailed narrative of how his father – Pa James Iloenyosi – was kidnapped and murdered by suspected kidnap kingpin, George Dumeme Onwuamadike, popularly called Evans, after collecting N15 million ransom. Chikelue, who played professional football in France and Turkey, described his family’s encounter with Evans and his gang as a lengthy hide-and-seek game. He said one early morning on November 25, 2013, his father who was 86 at the time, was on his way back from their local Catholic church when three SUVs double-crossed him and whisked him away. According to the football star, that fateful day was the last time he would ever see his father alive again. Chikelue, who is actress Stephanie Okereke-Linus’ ex-husband, told PUNCH Newspaper: “When they took him away, they did not talk to us until after five days. They phoned my twin sister. She was sobbing when she called me that the kidnappers had made contact. “When we, the children, gathered, my sister called the kidnappers again and they simply told us that they would call back. They did not call back until after another five days just to build our anxiety.” According to Chikelue, the kidnappers on the morning of the fifth day called to demand a ransom of N50m. The routine of begging and pleading for the reduction of the ransom started at this point and after many days, they eventually reduced the ransom to N15m. Chikelue said, “When we paid the N15m, my father was already dead and we did not know. “What made me upset was that despite how seriously we worked to get him back, my father did not come out of it alive.” But upon payment of the ransom, the kidnappers said they were not releasing their victim until the family brought more money. But they never heard from the kidnappers again. However, after four months of investigation into the kidnap, said to have involved hundreds of policemen in Anambra State combing the forest at the time, security agencies got a break when a member of the gang that kidnapped Chikelue’s father, a suspect known as Nonso, was arrested along with three other members of his gang. Chikelue said at the time, Evans was already a popular criminal well known to the State Anti-Robbery Squad of the Anambra State Police Command. He was said to be a wanted robber known for hitting bullion vans. “The SARS boss in Anambra told me at the time that any suspect arrested for any major crime always mentioned the name of Evans,” he said. According to him, the family had to involve a private investigator in the case at a point when there was no longer news about their father’s whereabouts months after the family paid the ransom. In addition to this, he said a friend of his based in Israel helped to track his father’s line and traced it to a young lady, who said Nonso was his boyfriend. “When we arrested the girl, she said Nonso only gave her the phone for safe-keeping, instructing her not to put it on. We started tracking Nonso. At a point, the current leader of the IRT, Abba Kyari, gave us 18 of his men to follow us to Cotonou, Benin Republic because our trace on Nonso’s line showed he was there. “We got there and the police arrested a young man, who said he came to buy a car. He said the number was not his and that he only wanted to use it to call somebody in Nigeria. The police had to let him go when it was clear he knew nothing. “Later, we left the Cotonou guy. Again, our private tracker traced him to Lokoja, Kogi State, ” he said. According to him, he and other members of the gang were said to have relocated there immediately they shared the ransom because many security agencies were after the gang. Chikelue said after identifying the hotel the suspect might be hiding in, some members of the SARS team in Kogi State moved in to make the arrest. He said, “I was in Lokoja for two months with a private tracker before we arrested Nonso. “When we got to the hotel with the police that day, we requested for the list of the people staying at the hotel. The hotel staff mentioned a “small boy” with his girlfriend in one of the rooms. “We knocked on the door and the girlfriend came out. He said her boyfriend was in the bathroom. But I was hearing a sound inside. He was trying to escape through the window but SARS operatives were already stationed around the hotel. “He eventually came out and said his name was Emmanuel. But I knew it was him right away because we had been able to obtain his photograph ahead. “But because I did not want him to panic, I pretended it was not him and told the SARS operatives in his presence that the person we were looking for was an older man. “He relaxed and was going inside when I called him and said I wanted to ask him something. I dialled his phone number there and then when it rang, we took it and it showed the name ‘Kidnapper football’. The SARS operatives immediately pounced on him and handcuffed him. “I asked Nonso if he knew me, he said he did not. I told him I was the footballer whose number he saved with that name. He then asked if I was ‘General’ – my alias – and I said yes.” “When Nonso was arrested, he became submissive, and pleaded for his life; saying he would provide any information the police needed. “He immediately told us that his leader was Evans. But he said there was no way we could get Evans because he had fled to Lagos after the completion of the operation. At this point, Nonso kept our hope alive. He said my father was still alive. He refused to give precise information,” Chikelue said The ex-footballer added that he was very hopeful at that point and believed he was indeed going to get his father back alive. Nonso, who was transported back to Anambra in the company of SARS operatives later provided the police with Evans’ phone line, with which they started tracking him. When the police team got to Anambra with the suspect, he reportedly began to plead not to be taken to SARS headquarters in the state for fear of being tortured and killed. He said he was willing to give up all the necessary information. Nonso told the police that Evans was always on the move after each operation. Chikelue said, “We were calling Evans to pinpoint his location but it was all abortive. Nonso was later made to call another member of the gang called Awolowo to inform him that there was an operation. “But Awolowo said he did not want to do any operation at the time because his wife had just put to bed. Nonso said Awolowo was part of Evans’ Asaba, Delta State group.” The police later arrested Awolowo and two others. For many days, these suspects were said to have kept mum. It was learnt that they refused to divulge any information about Evans, which the police suspected was owing to the fact that they had taken an oath. In fact, one of the suspects, who was on the verge of confessing was said to have suddenly started acting like someone with a mental illness. Even Nonso’s girlfriend who was also arrested was said to have refused to give any information that could implicate her boyfriend. “The most shocking thing was that when the police interrogated Nonso, he said that if the SARS ever wanted peace in Anambra, they should kill the lady. He said she was the one responsible for taking care of the gang and that she helped them buy drugs and collected ransom on their behalf,” Chikelue said. But he said while all these were going on, his only concern was knowing his father’s whereabouts. One day, while Chikelue was at the SARS office, he found a sudden ally in an armed robbery suspect called Onyeso, who was detained there. Chikelue said, “He pulled me aside and said, ‘My brother, you are a good man because you always give money so that the police could buy us food when you come here’. He said he wanted to give me a privileged information. “He said if we wanted any result, we should take Awolowo to the backyard and tell the police to shoot their gun in the air as if they had killed him. He said the other one would start confessing because they had indeed taken an oath. “When the police did this, Nonso started confessing when he was told Awolowo had been killed. He said he would take us to where my father was buried. “We journeyed into the forest for three and half hours before we got to where they buried him. I broke down and my sister who was there at the time fainted.” It was gathered that the late Pa Iloenyosi was buried around Nneyi village in Umueri community. But most heartbreaking was the information that the old man might have been starved or beaten to death. When Nonso was asked how the old man died, he explained that it was the fault of those manning the hideout where Evans kept the man. Pa Iloenyosi was said to have been stripped to his underwear, kept in a cold room and beaten regularly in order to put more pressure on his children. Chikelue said, “While we were negotiating for ransom, they would call and put the phone on speaker so I could hear how they beat him. My father would cry and beg me to find a way to ensure his freedom. “We reburied him in at our hometown – Abagana in Anambra state – a few days after we found his body and started the search for Evans. One of the vital information Nonso gave us was that they were on their way to a robbery when they got information about my father and they diverted to Abagana to kidnap him. So, I was really particular about the arrest of Evans so that he could tell us who in our community gave them the information.” Chikelue said he was the happiest man in the world the day he heard Evans had been arrested. But he said he was particularly upset when he read that Evans was begging for his life with the excuse that he had never killed a victim before. “What Evans did to my family was the most painful thing anybody can experience. When I read he has been begging for sympathy, I just laughed. The death penalty for people like him is the only solution. Evans can never repent despite all the second chance he is begging for.”
